The music on this album was created during a week long workshop in June 2021. We emerged blinking into the sunlight after a year of isolated hibernation and inactivity due to pandemic restrictions. The joy of convening a group of musicians in a space and making noise together once again was an immensely cathartic experience.

We Are Here has a myriad of layers and connotations to a diaspora community. Overlooked, marginalised and ignored, an assimilated but distinct people in search of a contemporary identity of our own. We all bring what is us and what made us, an indefinable and incongruous melting pot. Our roots are deep but they are not fixed in places, they live in our being. We are shaped by our universe, nothing exists in a vacuum, our tradition is constantly being shaped and redefined.
